Subject: Trac-bars for lifted 2wd? beneficial IP: Logged
Message: Would it be benificail to get a set of traction bars for my 2000 4.7l v8 dakota? like set of lakewoods or caltracs? I havn't seen a set of dakota specific tract bars. I really like the fabtechs they make for the f 150. Also would the loss in ground clearance nagatively effect any increase in traction I got?
I rally like the looks of trac-bars and I have some wheel hop I'd like to get rid of. All info is greatly appreciated.

Message: The traction bars are more used to solve the problem of axle wrap with lifted trucks, and most stock trucks don't really need them. Traction bars are very helpful with lifted trucks that have very powerful engines for the trucks. Since you have a V8 you might get some positive performance. But to be honest i've never seen traction bars on a 2WD before, but you might want to go to your local off-road shop, they can tell you if the traction bars are worth it for your truck and driving preferences.
