Subject: 275/70/R16 Anyone tried these? IP: Logged
Message: My wife's QC (read family car) has the stock P255/65/R16's on 16 x 8 rims. The BFG site says that their LT 275/70/R16 A/T KO will fit a stock 2001 QC 4x2. Has anyone tried this combo? Did it rub or worse?
We're trying to avoid a body or suspension lift for the time being but could use a bit more flotation from a larger tire.

Message: I just put on LT 265/75/16 and they rub. (Bridgestone A/T Revo's) According to their specs:
275/70/16 = 31.2x10.8
265/75/16 = 31.8x10.6
I'd have to believe you'd still get some rubbing with the 275/70/16 based on the last couple days of driving. For me, the solution looks like a body lift for Christmas...

Message: I don't know if luck has much to do with it Traumer. I haven't read good things about the Goodyears on this site. I've had three slow leaks and never can keep enough air in the right front no matter how many times I rotate the tires.

Message: Hey Traumer,
I hate to break em on ya but I told you they would not fit. Not for nothing but how come you ask for advice and then don't listen to peoples ideas?

Message: Hey mrhotwheels,
Man, I’m really tempted to give a smart a$$ answer because of the arrogance involved in any “I told you” comment plus the assumption that I didn’t listen to your opinion. However, I think you were genuine in your effort to give good, accurate advice so let’s keep it cool and cordial.
Why do you assume I didn’t listen? Don’t take this wrong but asking for people’s opinions & advice is a method of making a more informed and intelligent decision. It doesn’t mean I’m going to do exactly what you suggest. Per your own words “It all really boils down to what you are looking for ... Only you know what is most important for your own needs.” I appreciate all your feedback but if you’ll recall, what I really wanted was some insight to the difference in performance of a Passenger and a Light Truck tire. At the end of the day what you and I place more importance on is different. When I finally made the decision to get these tires I fully expected some rubbing. By that time, I had also decided to get the Body Lift. I was going to do them both eventually and figured might as well do them both now. I could go on, but in an effort to shorten this thing, I was trying to help answer the guys question in much the same way you tried to help answer mine. The tire he's considering is pretty darn close in size and I thought my experience might benefit him one-way or the other. (You never know, he may get a lift and the bigger tires too.) Oh yeah, and after 3 whole days and ~ 20 huge miles of driving including one day of rain, I love them… Can't wait for day 4... whoohoo

Message: Thanks for the help y'all. But I made the mistake of showing the better half TallQuad's truck. Needless to say, we're gonna go body & chassis lift instead.
Keep the shiney side up!
