Subject: SkyJacker Jack IP: Logged
Message: A friend of mine and I are planning a (kinda major) off road excursion and we were wondering if those SkyJacker jacks are worth taking along. The reason I'm asking you guys is those jacks are just big tall bumper jacks and can we actually use a bumper jack on a Dakota? BTW my Dak is an '01. Any other must haves for a Dak for a long off-road trip?
Any info would be really appreciated!

Message: Anyone? I thought this page was full of off-roaders? Maybe I gotta go to a Nissan Pathfinder website, or maybe a Toyota Tundra site?

Message: I have one but am yet to use it. Good question where would you use it on a Dakota bumper. I got mine after I got the Hanson Bumper. I do not even think you would want to use it on the back bumper. The only good use you way get out of it is the poor mans winch type of use but you would need some of the accesories.
For a long road trip bring lots of good music and some basic tools, maybe a shovel if you encounter mud off road, I carry some flat wood as well and straps, a D-ring for your hitch is always good to have but you will need a receiver to accept it.
Does that help?

Message: I have one that I have used on my back bumper with no problem. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE JACK IS STAYING UPRIGHT. I have had my truck fall a few times because the jack started to tip. Luckly my tires were still on.
For the front bumper, the only way I have been able to jack is to take off the plastic valence.
hope that helps.

Message: That didn't bend the bumper any?
I've always been scared to try it on the front I lucky have a differen't rear bumper that is plenty strong to use as a jack point but I don't know about the front.
BTW you could use a reciever hitch in the back.
