Message: All I can say about the X-Terrains is that they absolutely kick ass! I just put them on with my PA 3" inch body lift on the stock 16x8 rims. They look sweet and handle great. I did some minor trimming on the front bumper (okastic) but you cant even see it. I'm going caping next monday so we will se how they do on the trails. Get EM!

I HAVE THE EXACT SET-UP YOU ARE WANTING!
www.pixhost.com/pixe/eclipsegst/rim1.jpg
www.pixhost.com/pixe/eclipsegst/rim2.jpg
I have an 02 Club Cab, 3" PA Body Lift, Cranked Torsion Bars (4 turns), 15x10 Eagle Alloy 589's (3.62 backspacing), 33x12.50 ProComp XTerrains
THE TIRES ARE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! NOT MUCH HIGHWAY NOISE AT ALL, STILL VERY VERY AGGRESSIVE, THEY ALSO SEEM TO BE WEARING WELL, AS I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY "DIFFERENCE IN THE FIRST 5,000 MILES"
I did have to do some major trimming of the front bumper and fender flares and it still hits occasionally on the metal piece (nothing serious though) - it was well worth the cutting
BOUGHT MY SET-UP FROM WWW.4WHEELPARTS.COM FOR $1,250.00 WHICH INCLUDED GAP GUARDS AND THEY CAME MOUNTED & BALANCED WITH FREE SHIPPING.
GOOD LUCK AND GO FOR IT!!!!!

Message: I had to cut approximately 2 inches off the front bumper (with a sharp razor blade) VERY SIMPLE! I then moved the black front piece up even with the "new bumper" and shot a screw through the bottom to hold it.
In the rear I had to trim about 2 inches off the very bottom of the fender flare (CANNOT TELL AT ALL) - used a razor blade and I had to trim the black piece about 3" up and 6" over. It now hits (just a little when turning sharp and hitting a bump hard) on the thin metal piece just below the fender flare. (NOTHING Major)
**Both pictures show all of the trim work done**

Message: I'll try to get more pictures up in the morning. You can probably go with 8's and not have to trim, but man I must say that the 10's are definitely worth the trimming. If you are not "looking" for it you cannot tell. No one (even those with Dakota's) don't notice it until I tell them.

Message: or just be like me and wait for rancho to come out with the susp to put underneath the body lift.....and with body and susp put together you put 33's with 10 inch rims that will fit comfortably, look good, and most probably NO trimming.....
that's if you all are patient enough :P

Message: 8's work fine.
Remember, the tread is a fixed size. The wider rims merely spread the sidewalls out. Spreading the sidewalls is not going to give you any more contact. The only thing the wider rims are going to do is give you a little more flotation once the tire sinks in past the tread. The wider rims do expose the sidewall to hazards a bit more. Nothing major either way, just things to keep in mind.
I am running 8's and my tread is riding completely flat and even with 35 psi.
33x12.50's on 8 inch wide rims is all I have sed for 11 years.

Message: Here is the closest they come on mine. They will touch ever so slightly in about mid turn on the plastic in the fenderwell. Right where it makes the little right angle dip in. Little un-noticable trimming on that plastic and your fine. In fact, it is just enough that you can here it rub, but not enough to actually damage anything.
Tire picture here
By the way, X-Terrains stink. I wish I could remember who the nut case was on this board that was the first to try them and talk me into getting them. Got a few things to say to him.

Message: Well, I put them on when I did my lift. Will be a year come the middle of August. I have about 50-60% of my tread left. Keep in mind that I drive in a LOT of stop and go traffic at least 50 to 60 miles every day. Thats not counting off road time.
I said what I did because back when I got my lift, no one of the boards with a newer Dak had a body lift. I was the guinea pig. Then everyone got one. Every one liked it. Now all of a sudden everyone hates them again. Same with the tires. When I decided to give the THEN NEW X-Terrains a try, I was chastised. Then once I got them and said how much I liked them. Everyone wanted them. Just figured I'd get the jump on saying that they were no good now. Yes I still love them. When it comes time for new ones, I am going to be hard pressed as to what to get. I love the X-T's, but also want to know first hand how the new BFG MT's and Goodyear MT/R's stack up against it.

Message: ROB,
Go with the XTerrains man - They're AWESOME! I've had Mickey T's before, Cooper Discovers, Thornbirds, -- The XTerrains are better than all of them overall -- They wear good, look aggressive, perform well on all types of terrain, and not much road noise compare to other "mud" tires.

Message: Just remember, X-Terrains are NOT mud tires. They are hyper-aggressive All Terrains. Bad mud is the one area they are a little weak in. They can hold their own mind you, just not quite as easily as a true mud terrain.

Message: Hawkeye,
Could you guess at how many miles you've put on those tires? I am considering picking some up depending on the number of miles I can get out of them. (I do a lot of road driving as well.)
I guess before I decide anything, I need to know whether they will fit. Is the standard body lift that comes with the 4X4 off-road package enough to make room for 33 X 12.50 X 15 Xterrains on 8" rims?
I posted a couple of days ago on this, but I have only gotten a few responses. Procomp's website lists the specs for their 33 X 12.50 X 15s as follows:
Overall diameter: 31.4
Overall Width: 10.9
Does that seem right for an 8" rim? or any size rim, for that matter?

Message: They are very close to true 33x12.50's. 8 inch wide rims are fine. As for the miles, I drive at least 50 miles a day on road, usually more. I probably have between 12k and 15k miles on them. Not sure because I didnt look at where my odometer was when I put them on. Should get at least another 2k out of them. Overall very good for a such an aggressive tire. Not quite sure what you mean about the "Off road package". Daks never came with anything like that. There are only 2 heights for the truck. Either 2wd, or 4wd. A 4wd Dak will need either a 3 inch body or suspension lift to run 33's on 8 inch wide rims to have little to no trimming of the fenderwell liners.

Message: Thanks Hawkeye.
So, it sounds like you're saying that even with the height of the 4X4 as it comes from the factory, I would need a 3" lift to fit those tires right?
I am leaning toward Procomp ATs 32 X 11.50 X 15 because of their 50,000 mile tread waranty, and if the xterrains won't fit, it makes my choice even easier.

Message: My wife has teh Pro Comp AT's on her 4wd Durango and loves them. If you get 32x11.50s you can fit them on a stock 4x4 with no rubbing if you have the factory 15x7 rims. With the factory 15x8's, there will be some minor rubbing in turns, but nothing major.
