Message: Unless you get the Hanson Bumper and do a little trimming. Trim and raise the torsion bars.
They work fine for me.

Message: Alright...alright...If it`s possible to fit 33s with no lift and some trimming (and that new front bumper) why can`t you fit 35s with a 3in body lift and some trimming (either more trimming to the front lower valance or the Hanson bumper.
Assuming the 35s are 2in larger they only need 1 more inch of room then the 33s.
I`m not talking about them never rubbing through the entire suspension cycle , just everyday driving (for most people this means on the street)
I`m considering the idea of getting the 17in RT wheels , in chrome , and the X-Terrains to go on them ,but you can only get 35in X`s for the 17in. wheels. My truck is an `02 QC AWD SLT plus that`s all black with chrome bumpers , emblems , and lower front valance and the silver 16 in. rims just don`t look right not being chromed. I`ve looked into aftermarket wheels but haven`t found any that don`t look...how can I put this... right on a 4X4.
I`ve had the big tired trucks and the more common 15in eagle and weld wheels , I`m just looking for something different (tastefully different I should say).
Any useful comments?

Message: Scott, i was also thinking about using the 17" RT wheels with the 4X4. Does anyone know if a 2000+ 4X4 with a 3inch body lift be able to fit the 17 inch RT wheel with an off road tire without any trimming and NO RUBBING???... if so, which tires would work???
thanks

It would work fine and they make a couple of different sizes for the 17" rim around 31-33"
The R/T rim is 8" wide with 5.5" of backspacing which is the same as the 15x8 and 16x8 that come with the dakota
It would be fine.

Message: The Durango R/T is 4WD with the R/T wheels . I`m not sure of the factory tire size though. So it`s definately possible to use them , it`s just that there aren`t a bunch of off-road tire choices for the 17s right now. They`re all larger tires (ie. 35s and larger)
Also , the R/T wheels are 17x9 in wide with , from what I`ve read , 6in. backspacing.
If you wanted more of a street tire you could bolt them on with no lift. I`d just like mine to be a little taller than the average Dakota.

Message: whoever said you cant fit 33s on a stock dakota check your figures. I have a 2000 4x4 extra cab and am running 33s on stock suspension. the ONLY trimming I had to do was the front lower corners of the front air dam and sklight trimming on the plastic fender well. I trimmed too much on the fender well but they work great. the only time they rub is when im doing a full trun like a u turn

Message: Rob,
Where do they rub? Do they still hit the fenders and/or front facia...or do they hit the frame?
So like I`ve wondered before...if you can fit 33s on a stock Dakota with some trimming , you should be able to fit 35s with a body lift and some trimming also. Keeping in mind I`m not planning on doing alot of off-roading.
Oh yea, Rob , do you have any pics. of where you trimmed your fenders and facia?
