Subject: How would it look? IP: Logged
Message: Just thinking about getting one of these , but not quite sure how it would look on SLT , what with the chrome grill and all. Talked to them and they said the factory driving lights would bolt right in , plus I told them about my inserts , and I could reuse them also!! All opinions welcome!! Thanks!!

Message: Actually, from what I can see in the picture, I think it would look better on an SLT than on a Sport. But, it looks kind of "street". Is that the look you are going for on a 4X4?

Message: Customizing a 4x4 Gen III Dakota is a tough call.
For the most part, exterior mods are a personal choice. Some clean-up work such as removing logos and decals will always look good.
I think changes that reflect "muscle" and "ruggedness" are the most appropriate.
On my white '99 SLT 4X4 I have Rhino'd the bed, installed molded Mopar flaps and shaved the tailgate. A cab-high fiberglas cap will go on shortly.
I am seriously considering a steel cowl induction hood and it would be my final exterior alteration.

Message: I've seen very few Daks that can pull off the all chrome front end look and none of them were 4x4's. The minimum requirement would definately be the SLT package with other chrome body parts/accessories.
It may not look too bad on ur Dak Ken since ur's is an SLT and u have the SS rockers. On the other hand it is a very big bumper to be all chrome IMO and may look to flashy for a 4x4 unless u added chrome rollbars and stepbars too make it blend in better and not just be a chromed front-end with little else chrome. Also, u live in Ohio and the winters may take it's toll quickly on this "show" bumper. Personally I would just have the lower part of fascia painted to match ur truck, that always looks the best IMO on a black truck with SLT package, then add the chrome steps:) For the $300+ u'd have into buying the new bumper fascia, u could have your lower fascia painted and have money towards something else u want.

Message: Wow , never thought of the Winters here. If the city sees 1 snow-flake , they but about a Ton of salt per square foot.hehe. I wonder how much it would cost to get one from the factory for a sport? I had talked to a VERY reputable collision repair shop , and they said that after about 3 years , the paint will start to come off if I had them paint it. This has already happened to me on the Shadow. Used that Black Bumber Paint , and 2 years latter , looks VERY bad!! Although , I did that myself.
Thanks for the in-put guys!!!

Message: I have an SLT with the "gay as hell" gray front valence.
I had a friend of mine paint it to match the truck for $100.
he would charge $300 to do it again.
he also did the bumper inserts on the rear bumper.
I have since seen black lower bumpers on Ebay for about $50. Might be a good way to go.
I think the chrome would look good on the SLT.
It's your truck do whatever the He11 you want!
