Message: I'm hearing a lot of negativity about ChassisTech suspension components, but so far, no specifics.
What exactly is so bad about these products?
Yeah, I know that most will assume that the lowest-priced are generally the worst in quality, but I can't help but wonder how they could continue to sell so many products if there were any major quality issues.
I would like to buy their 2" coils and 3" leaf springs, but I'll hold off for a few days to see if anyone can covince me that I'd be making a serious mistake.

Message: OK, I think I've answered my own question, but I'll post it here for the benefit of others.
I bought a Truckin' magazine and the first thing that caught my attention was the MASSIVE ads that ther're running... it's like 20 PAGES. No one company could have a good grip on all the products they offer.
Second, there's NO PHYSICAL STORE.... therefore the difficulty in examining a product before purchase would be impossible for anyone, not to mention returning anything, which brings me to the most obvious (and most revealing) problem with AIM....
The DISCLAIMER!! This is too much! I can't believe that I was nearly duped into patronizing this "company".... if you can call them that. Here's their tiny-print disclaimer in it's entirety:
"Prices subject to change without notice. Not responsible for typographical errors. No returns without PRIOR authorization. Short & damaged must be reported within 24 hours. Refunds exclude shipping charges. Subject to 35% restocking charges."
Just a couple of points...
AS this has been noted before on this board, a THIRTY FIVE PERCENT restocking fee says VOLUMES about their history of returned merchandise, and I doubt that most people order products only to return them.... maybe (probably) they're defective crap? Also, when I was looking into leaf springs, the PRICE was $99.00, and the SHIPPING was $159.00 (several other examples quoted just-as-ridiculous shipping charges), so it seems to me that these guys make MORE money on returns than they EVER do actually selling the products for permanent consumption.
This place is too much. If I was an opportunist, I'd just order a PILE of this stuff, receive it (forge the signature for UPS), sell it to another sucker, dispute the charge with my credit-card company ("I never got the stuff") and laugh my a$$ off.
Of course, I'd NEVER do that, cuz it'd be illegal, but it'd serve AIM right. Sooner or later, they'll likely be gone.
God, I hope nobody ACTUALLY DOES THIS!

My question is that if AIM is esentially a drop-ship "Middleman" is Chassis Tech a seperate company or does AIM make Chassis Tech? What if you contact them directly?? I personally went with Belltech.

Message: AIM BLOWS!!! their parts are cheap, but with cheap comes problems. I slammed my 98 s-10 4-6 with coils spindles, leafs and blocks. I figured if i spend the extra cash to get the right components, i wouldnt have any problems. The truck sat crooked, (driver side too low) it squeaked, creaked, but could hook a turn like you wouldnt believe!
I recently purchased a 01 CC4.7 and lowered it 3-6 with DJM components...believe me, USE DJM!!!!!! 3" lower control arms up front, all the factory geometry remains the same, spring rating doesnt change because you keep factory coils. In the rear, I used DJM's 5" shackle hanger kit and a 1" block to level it out.
Truck rides like stock but with stiffer shocks. all DJM control arms come with zerk fittings and urathane bushings, so squeaks are kept to a minimum. All you need to add is sway bars and your set. I purchased the entire kit through godfathercustoms.com, they sell the parts cheaper than DJM sells them. the entire kit was close to $500. like i said...DJM is the only way to go!
good luck!

I have all aim stuff on my gen 1 dakota..and it sucks..but you cant complain when your pops buys them as a christmas present. I had one spindle have the wheel bearing weld itself to the spindle. I could take the blame for this...but we have lowered more than 5 vehicles so I dont think it was us. The suspension squeaks...and they are just rude. i would spend the extra $ and get belltech!!!

My dak is a 94 v-6 with A LOT of suspention mods on it. i used western chassis components, first their produts are really high quality, their return pol is not stupid like the mag wana-be"s.
and when I ordered my stuff it was at my front door 3 bus days later. as in for spring they only use eibachs. wich I asked for my own personal spring rate and where happily to comply wiyh at no extra charge. I would not use bell-tech if you thingking about doing some corner carving. you see abuot 90% of the time they send you a spring that has a much softer rate than the factory sprig. And I dont know if its just my luck, but every spindle that I have installed from belltech I always wind up getting the grinder out to make clerance for the brake caliper. look at the SPORT TRUCK DIRECT add in the truck mags.

Message: i dont think chassis tech and Aim are any kind of "single" company. i have seen chassis tech stuff for sale through other companies in Truckin, Sport Truck, and MiniTruck. i ordered the Chassis Tech ladder bar package from aim... i used the ladder bars and panhard bar but not the c-sections. the are all quality parts with good welds and all of that stuff. the only problem i had was the mounting plates i got for the ladder bars had like a 2.5 inch half circle cut into for the axle tube but the axle tube is three inches... i just had to do a little cutting and grinding. the only thing i didn't like about aim was the shipping.... they quoted me a price just by saying what i wanted and not by where i live.
now after hearing about the coil springs that Aim produces (i don't think Chassis tech makes them), i will probably never get them... i would rather use my fabtech 2" lift coils that are cut down by 2.5 coils!

I have seen every part that they sell break with exception of items like Thomas compressors and such that are not produced by them. The steel that they make their parts from starts out life in a powder form. AIM also has the most expensive shipping and return policy that man has seen. I could return a half eaten orange to the grocery store easier. I have personally seen over 20 truck that have been ruined by AIM parts breaking. I have also used Western Chassis, DJM, Bell Tech, and Eibach and they are all really high quality parts...use them!!!!

Message: Heh.. this doesn't happen much.. but I've got a 4x4 using a Truckin-Suspension (yes another AIM, Chassis Tech) company. We've been working on Lifting my truck and other then the lack of comunication between me and the actual guys that make the kit (red tape is a pain) everything has gone fairly well. The kit DEFINATELLY DOESN"T FIT! but.. it's the first one they've made.. So far I've gotten everything but my $$ back that I've asked for. But if they don't hold there end of the deal.. I will definatelly be e-mailing Joe@chassistech I even have his direct phone # :-) got to love the internet.
I just wanted to let you guys know that the parts are definatelly quality parts. The powercoat SUCKS and they have issues with shipping. But it looks like sofar that the kit will be ok. I'm having a local shop look over everything to let me know what they think about the strength and we'll see from there. A few of the deminisions have been off (keep in mind this is the first kit) but I e-mailed them w/ the correct ones and they sent me new parts the next day.
I'm not trying to say they are awsome.. and I'm not trying to say they suck. Just saying it sounds like they have some bugs to work on.. and they are doing just that.

If you do want Chassis Tech products and don't want to pay AIM shipping fees you can get their stuff through Chassis Tech dealers like http://www.pikfabrications.com/
I'm not a gambling man. I'd much rather pay the extra money for the quality parts from a reputable company. Mostly everything that AIM sells is a cheap knock off of anyway.

Message: I ordered leafsprings from AIM. Cost $89.00 and $60.00 for shipping! They are the cheapest things I have ever seen. They have paint dripping all over them and one of the leafs is loose because the clamp isn't tight enough. They charged my credit card twice for the same purchase! I haven't seen a refund yet.
I seriously don't feel safe driving on these piece of crap springs that can break on me while driving on the freeway, and get me killed.
I called them and they said if I wanted to return them shipping would not be refunded and there would be a 35% restocking fee. They make more money on returns then they do purchases. So I'm out $60.00 for shipping and $32.00 for restocking fee, even though there product is defective. AIM just made $92.00 off of me and will just sell these same springs to some other sucker and the cycle will keep going and going. SHUT AIM DOWN! Go with Belltech or DJM.

Message: I got some 2" lowering blocks from them.
The quality is good, but they were angle-cut, which I don't even know if that is neccessary with 2" blocks. It evened the frame out "a little."
The reason I bought em was because I bought some cheap 2" lowering blocks from Pep-Boys and they cracked, so I exchanged em for another set and they cracked again. So then I did some research and found AIM 2" lowering blocks for $26. Cheaper than the Pep-Boy's blocks!! But shipping was $16!!
So I paid $42 all together. They hold up great, didn't take much from the ride quality, but my only complaint is that they didn't give a full 2" drop, which is why it didn't completely even the frame from back to front. I blame it on the fact that AIM decided to angle-cut them. Since they're only 2", I don't think that was neccessary.
When I get my DJM 3/5 a-arm/hanger kit, I'm gonna sell em. Infact, I'm thinking about taking em off now and selling em. I'll get a new set of steel u-bolts, and a new set of bolts and lockwashers for em, and I think I'm gonna sell em for around $10-$20. They don't give much of a rear-drop, but I bet they'd compliment lowered leafs and/or hangers nicely.:D

i'd rather not comment on the customer service, they didnt seem to answer to emails. they hadnt shipped them on the date they were supposed to, so it worried me. i emailed them twice, they got shipped them two days late, but i think they shipped them express, because they arrived on the expected date!
the quality of them looks nice, when compared to DJM coils (just by looking)... i have yet to install them, but seemingly i havent had any problems, and i dont expect to!

Message: I will always deal with a company first despite people's comments to see what their all about. People do tend to be wrong from time to time but you have to look concerned at such a large mass who are obviously to say the least pissed. My opinion is to start of cheap and see if they deliver...in another words... don't spend 3k dollars on your first purchase. Well recently I purchased from AIM an entire airbag assembly for a 94 dakota. All brackets and bags and the price was super. I'll admit the shipping and handling were higher than any other company and that is a scam but I still saved over 100 dollars. The product quality is great and super compared to the pricing of the product. In my one instance they delivered and did a superb job. I also have a friend who ordered his entire drop kit form them and he said he was completely satisfied although his kit doesn't handle like Hotchikis...you get what you pay for. And for the guy who said he worked for them and they suck. The reason they suck is for hiring people like you who don't give a damn. In your entire extent with the company, if you would have had a better attitude you ,one person, could have made a huge difference in customer service. Thats why people like us suffering from ordering. Too many people like you .....oh geez another order....wooptie doo....oops I lost it....who cares..../////I think it all depends on the ext. you reach and the person you deal with. Message: I recently had the misfortune of ordering what was supposed to be 3" lift spindles for my '96 Chevy 1500. I guess you get what you pay for. When I put one of the spindles on the ball joint ends seemed to go in just fine but when I went to put the tie rod end into the spindle arm no matter how much I tightened it still wobbled. They apparently did not cut the taper properly so the tie rod end could not seat. I also tried to put the brak caliper on and noticed there was a huge space between the brake caliper and the ears on the spindle that are supposed to keep your break caliper in place when you hit the brakes. I called up Truckinsuspension and talked to their so-called technician and he kept insisting they had been making them like that for years with no complaints, but he said if I send the parts back at my expense he would replace them, but he couldn't guarantee they would work any better than what he originally sent.
Boy, did I get duped!
They also said they couldn't accept them back without an authorization number and they could only give me one if I emailed or faxed them.
And do they return emails? Noooooooo..........
