Message: you can go with a 3" block, just change the U-
bolts. you should do 5" shackle hangers and
a 1" block. I did it, and the ride didnt change at
all. a 3" block will make the leafs super stiff,
and cause the ride to suffer.

Message: john, why would you want to mono leaf it?.. you do know the spring will bend untill the frame hits the axle...right?
D, why would a 3" block stiffen up a leaf spring?

Message: all a block does is raise the axle higher.
it puts no more stress on the axle than in stock form.
puttin weight in the bed would put more stress on the spring than a block.
i have a 4" block on mine, and it rides stock. i have a hanger in my garage, but i have no reason to put it in, because im happy with my setup. if it were riding like crap, i would have put the hanger in 3 years agao.
the only way you can make the rearend ride bad is #1 take leafs out of the pack, and #2 dearch the spring. using a block, shackle, or hanger only raises the sping and does not change the characteristics of the spring, thus causing it to maintain a stock ride

Message: doesnt the block go between the axle and the
leaf? I always thought it puts stress on the
leaf cause it puts more force down onto the
leaf? how come when I put more weight in
the bed of my truck, it rides smoother? dont
listen to me, too much crack today.
BTW, did you get that supercharger figured out
yet? I gotta take a ride in that thing once its
ready.

Message: D, yes the block goes between the spring and the axle. in the same place the axle was located on the spring. i dont see how it will put more force down on the spring than what is already on it.
it does not bend the spring down creating more of a arch in the spring. if it did, i could see how it would ride more rough, but all it does is raise the axle.
as for the problems, they are still there...i think it is the FMU and will be picking up a vortech FMU tomorrow. ill let you know how it turns out.
Jon, depending on how much you want to drop the truck, you may or may not want to use a angled block. i personally use a 4" angled block, and have not had a U-joint or driveshaft problem in 3 1/2 years
