Message: Guys,
Yesterday I just dropped the front of my dak 3" with western chassis. 2" drop arms ans 1" drop springs. I used moog upper and lower ball joints that I bought new on ebay. With belltech nitro drop shocks and energy suspension poly bushings (uppers and lowers) The install was pretty str8 forward but took a whole day. The new ball joints come with the rubber boots. The lowers just bolted into the WC control arms and the uppers I had to cut the heads of the rivits off and use an air chisel to pry the factory balljoint out of the upper control arm. A few things I learned and you should learn from my mistakes is to have help (actually I did), do NOT tighten the grease fittings all the way down on the ball joints - they stripped out on mine and I have to go back in a few days and put larger ones in, have some pipes handy - they slip onto breaker bars for extra leverage, use poly bushings everywhere - I cant begin to tell you how much better my ride quality is ! Another thing, if you plan on changing out the upper control arm bushings for poly ones, you will need to drill out the old rubber ones, dont waste time trying to pull them out, they will just rip anyway, and I found drilling is the oly way to get the old crap out. (UMMM burnt rubber LOL)
