Message: I have a 2002 Dakota 4.7 and I want to lower it as much as possible, but I don't know anything about lowering trucks. I have been told to go with air ride suspension. What parts do I need to lower it as much as possible and how much do they cost? Who makes the best parts and about how much do they cost? Do they come in packages? Does anyone have pictures of a dakota with a 6 inch drop or more?

Message: 6" drop can be done without bags, but your
frame and suspension components are going
to be soooo low to the ground, good luck
getting anywhere. If you're gonna go that low,
get an airbag setup with a 4 link in the rear.

I believe he is a member at this site, so you
could probably hit him up with an email about
the airbag setup, you're looking at a lot of
cutting and welding, are you sure you want to
bag a 2002??? why dont you wait till its paid
off, or at lest till the warranty is up?

Message: I have a 2002 and wanted to bag it, but with my driving and location, it would be hell on those bags, so now I'm looking for a full Hotchkis kit, x-brace, new mounts, etc...more of a performance setup. Maybe when the warranty goes and I own another vehicle I'll bad and port the cab, but for now...no.
Really think about it.

Message: you cant have a "really lowered" truck and have the driveability of a stock truck. something has to be comprimised.
if you bagg it, you can raise and lower it at will, but it may not perform to your likeing

Message: I would think about it before you decide. My truck is bagged and sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. You should look at Eric's 4-6 drop with 20's, it looks sick. But you are probably like I am and not satisfied till the frame is on the ground. Is the truck your daily driver? Also how are the roads where you live?

Message: I would love it on the ground but no resonable, because it is my daily driver. Ok here is what I want, I want it to be a daily driver and I am going to take it to the track every now and then, but I also think it stand to high stock. So how would a 2/2 drop work. I think Hotchkiss makes a whole package for this. Do you think it would meet all of my needs and still look good. I do not want to loose performance and from what I have gathered lowering it to much will do just that.

Message: you should definately level it out. you would
need a 2-4, no c-notch involved, Hotchkis
makes a great kit, and you can even run 20's if
you want.

Message: It sounds like a you got it, go with the 18's. To many people already have 17's they are like average now. Also the 18's will compliment your drop better.

Message: Hay man just drop the way you like it. I have a
gen II (96) and I lower it myself in the driveway it took me 3 weekends.By the time I was done cutting and making things fix (a hole nother story)it turned to be a 6/6 drop. have pic's just e-mail me at dakotarbkle@cs.com, but my front cross beam is ONLY 1"from the ground.I used a =( Chassis Teck drop,(pain in my butt) with shackles, hangers,& 3" blocks Note: must ask for front hangers also at time of ordering. Then for the front I used a lower A arm and 2"springs(for v8's)but of course it was not enough so I cut 2 coils off.(dame it's low) I bought mine in oct/99 with 30,000 miles and now it's 5/02 115,000.(200 miles is my daily drive.)So like I was saying do what you, want and what makes you happy.
