Subject: would these tires work? IP: Logged
Message: hey, 96 dodge dakota xcab v6 2wd,
and my question is:
my buddy gave me a pair of tires that he had that are 185/65/15 and my other tires are 215/75/15
and theyre BALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD, mostly, except for the back 2 (spare and least worn) and i wanna know
if i put the 2 in back to the front, and get the 185's in back, i know itll be "lowered" from tires size (right?) but would it even WORK? or would i drag ass?
i know enough about my truck, but this is new to me.
help?

Message: 215's are 27.7" diameter.
185's are 24.47" diameter.
Diameter difference is 3.23".
Radius difference is 3.23/2 or 1.615".
Putting 185's on the rear will drop you about 2" at the axle, allowing for about .5" compression of the tire with the truck weight on it (1.615 + .5).
