Message: i did a 4/6, and i would do it again. when i had my 17's, i wanted to go another inch, but a 5/7 is too low. you probably won't rub the tires, but the frame will scrape over EVERYTHING. i put some 205/60/15's on with the 4/6 (which equals to about a 5/7 on 17's) and it threw sparks on the freeway. it was kinda cool, but not for a everyday driver.

Message: a couple of my friends just told me they would help me lower my truck. and i would only have to pay for parts.....but is it an easy thing to do? i believe on of my friends helped lower his s10(proably watched) but anyways what would be the best kit to get for the money? i really dont wanna pay more than $300 any suggestions on what to get? or where to get it?
and D you have a 68mm TB? thats a big TB for a dakota! my TB i just put on i believe is only a 50 or 52

Message: sounds like you're gonna have to go coils and
shackle hangers. The drop will still run more
than 300, unless you find some cheap
shocks. (which I dont recomend)
the 68 mm TB comes stock on the 2001+ 4.7
dakotas :)
dakotas sit 3" higher in the rear! check out all
the 3/5 drop pics, and 2/4 drops, the are all
sitting slightly raked. My suggestion, do a 2/5,
or a 3/6, with the 6" drop in the rear, you
probably are gonna have to do a C-notch (I
just took out the bump stops and shaved an
inch off them cause it rode fine at 5" in the
rear.
I had a 98 s-10 at 4/5, and it sat raked, s-10's
are exactly 2" higher in the rear.

Message: I had a 3/5 on my '98 CC, and to be honest, I thought that the rear sat "lower" than the front. It may have been the angle that I was looking at it...or the difference in the tire sizes, but it did seem lower in the rear.
If your interested, I still have the kit with the shocks for $250. I only ran the kit for a year, then switched to bags.

If you have the right tools, a lift, and minor

Message: sorry but you guys are talking about cash now. 500 bucks is well lets see....25 hrs of work @ 20 bucks an hr.

Message: wait one darn minute, it was more like 80 beers. damn we were toasted, so here is more math: 80/12=6.667*$15=100.?, and then the food: 4 rnd tble pizzas= 45 dollars. cab ride to take all my friends home= $25, hangover next morning = $18 (advil+alot of unneccesary foodage).
so thats 25+18+45+100=188.
so maybe taking it to a mechanic is better.
