Subject: squeaky after drop... what to do??? IP: Logged
Message: I need help with problems I have encountered with my drop. First off, I put 2" in the rear, and everything was fine. After about 2 weeks it started squeaking everytime I hit even the smallest bumps. About 2 months ago I put on a 3/5.... springs, shackles and hanger..... Same thing happend... After about 2 weeks everything started squeaking and it is really getting on my nerves and it makes my truck sound like a PIECE... Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix it... thanks alot, brandon

Message: most likely its your leaf spring or sway bar bushings. invest in some polyerothyne (however you spell it) bushings and grease them well when you install them.

Message: The best way to fix it is to not drop a truck. Trucks are meant to sit up off the ground not scraping the oil pan on speed bumps.
you would not have this problem if you didnt mess with the way the manufacturer had it.

Message: Well if you like the speed the low center of gravity and are not offroading. Then tell me what is the point of owning a truck?
One person pointed out he likes to dump performance parts into his truck cause he needs a truck but cant have a truck and a car. Thats one thing. he didnt drop his to the ground. So why not just buy a sports car instead of a truck. Thats all you do when you drop a truck is turn it into a car.
You cant use it for the usefulness of a truck so why would you own a truck you cant use.

I personally love retardly-high lifted trucks, and love slammed trucks. I plan on giving tha ol' school branco a rediculouse lift, and parking my soon to be bagged dakota underneath it.

Message: You probably already have polyurethane bushings. Kits usually come with those. You most likely did not use the lubricant they give you. Polyurethane bushings must be lubricated prior to assembly or they will squeek, like crazy. My kit actually had me drill holes through the lower control arms for the grease zerks, so I could grease the front end regularly. By the way, don't use a petroleum based grease either. It will eat up the poly bushings.
