Subject: DJM lowering kit IP: Logged
Message: I recently lowered my 01 r/t with a DJM 2/3 lowering kit for my r/t. The kit came with 2" control arms and 2" hangers and a 1" block for the rear. I had the kit installed and the rear axle was about 1" from the frame in the rear and it rode like crap because the axle would hit the frame. I took out the block in the rear beacause it gave me an additional 1" of clearence in the back and gave it a little bit of rake which looks good. Has anybody else had this problem, and is it necessary to do c notch. My axle still hits if I hit a nice size bump in the road. Please neeeeeed help.

Message: Hey..i got the same kit...but since ine wasnt an rt..i guess i didnt go as low as yours. Are you hitting the frame,or the bumpstops?.you could try shaving a lil off the bumpstops..or replace them with ones made for lowering kits..other than that....yeah..your gonna have to notch that thing
Just my 3 cents

Message: Since you have a r/t compared the the reg. dak its a 3/4 drop. I had a 3/5 on my dak and had plenty of clearence. If you want it level with that 1 inch block just C-notch it and you will be fine. C-notch can give you another inch and a half to 2 inch clearence aproximately. You should have no problems if you C-notch it. Late

Message: Graham; I had the same prob in the back as you did, but with 3" blocks. Had to go with shorter blocks as it would hit the frame. Removed the factory b-stops on the back. Trimming them may help some, but they are not rubber all the way through, there is a steel 'bump' in the centre. If you trim half the rubber off you are nearly all the way through it, same as riding on the frame(it will hammer!)

Message: Also, keep in mind that the R/T diff tubes are 5/8" bigger than other Dak's. allowing an additional 5/8" less room to drop...that with the apx. 1" lower ride to begin with...

Message: Hey 00r/t the bump stops are pretty thin to begin with about 1/2" but does stop the axle from hitting direct frame. I didn't realize that the axle withs are that much different that kind of explains alot. Has anyone else had this problem with a drop kit on a r/t. Any feedback would be good thanx guys. 2 cents better than 0 cents
