Subject: Replacing the whole RACK IP: Logged
Message: I have bad inner tie rods and ball joints on my 99 2wd 5-speed V6 Dak. I got a quote of $400 to fix it. It was suggested that I might be able to replace the hwole "RACK" for less....or at least the same amount....and possibly do the work myself.
Does any one know much about this. I posted here since it is suspension related. I'm not completely sure what the "rack" consists of.
Thanks

Message: It's really easy to replace the rack. There are two large bolts on the front, two fluid lines and the tie rods...that's it. Just make sure to set the two racks side by side and approxiamte the tie rod adjustments. Don't forget and alignment.
