Message: the shock spins when u try to get the nut off. be sure to put the jack under the arm, so the suspension's under load, which'll take some stress off the top nut. then use a pneumatic/ impact gun, cuz it'll have to spin the nut real quick to not spin the whole shock. WD40 might help alittle too to free the nut from the shock bolt. Hope this helps. Peace

Message: LOL, i had ALOT of trouble fittin it at first too. I think i tried some real long extensions with swivel joints even!! But last time i did it, i had no problem. just had to position the gun on it, then once its in their, hook up the air hose to it comin from another way. dont know what engine u have, i have a V6, might be harder on other engines maybe? but that's really the only way i know to do it. i bought an air-ratchet cuz i thought it'd fit, but then realized it was for torque, NOT speed:)
dont know how else i can help; just look at it and try to see a way. maybe try the extensions and swivel joints(watch the pins in the swivel tho, i had to bang mine back in every once in a while). good luck! Peace

Message: ok, hold on. not sure how much help u need, but lemme just make sure: wheels should be off, work through the wheel well AND through the engine bay, take out the whole intake assembly for room on the pass side. what i did was put the socket on the nut, if i could get the gun on the socket, i'd put it on unplugged (thru the wheel well) then run the hose thru the engine bay to hook it to the gun. If i couldnt get the gun on the socket, i'd add small extensions til i got it where i could fit the gun (in the engine bay); if the angle's not workin, use the swivel (should be made for impact gun, so it wont fall apart like mine.) OK, i know i repeated myself, but this post should help more :). good luck, let me know how it turns out. Peace

Message: If the shock plunger is turning, you might try to take a hack saw or dremel tool to notch the top of the shaft so a screw driver can hold it. Or just cut the nut down the side to remove it. Auto parts stores use to carry a nut buster that fit over the nut, you tighten up the bolt on the buster and it splits the nut. If all else fails, a smoke wrench is bound to work. Good luck.

Message: OH sh8t! LMAO! never thought of just cuttin the nut off (ooooh, BOBBIT flashback lol) that would work EASY! but u still have to get it back on!! so you're gonna have to find a way to that gun in there! Peace

Message: A company called "DIYTOOLS" at DIYTOOLS.Com carries the nut splitter I spoke of. It only splits the nut and doesn't hurt the shaft. You just use a new nut. If you can find one locally, I know it can help you. Good luck at what ever you try to use.

Message: You guys kill me, if you look at the top of the shaft it has two flat sides that you can get a very small open end wrench on. Hold the shaft with the small open end wrench and use a lager open end wrench on the nut until there is no room for the small wrench. Then if it still will not gome all the way off grap it with your hands or use vise grips.

Message: maybe there are those flat parts on the newer models or the r/t but not on mine. my entire shock is round from top to bottom.
