hi i have a 99 v6 dakota with 17" wheels, just wondering if i lowered it 2" in the back to even it out would it look betteR? how would it ride? thanks

It would ride ok but you wont be happy with the way it sits. It usually will make your rear sit a little lower than the front. Either use a 1" block or use the 2" block and some 1" springs up front. Don't forget to replace the stock shocks with low rider shocks if you go more than 1" or it will ride like crap. I think Dakotas look best with at least a 3"/5" drop with some 18" wheels myself.

I just got finished putting 2" blocks on my 01 QC. I think it looks much better. I do think the back sits a tad and I mean a tad bit lower. Not very noticeable at all. I will send you a pic.

ya im looking to go 2/3 or 2/4 whatever is even but im really poor right now so i just wanted to even out my truck for now cause it looks kinda funny in the back with the 17s. i think i might go with the 1" block in the back if i do it at all. what all do i need to buy besides the block?

Well the U-bolts should come with a kit. If it is like the one I got, you will have a tough time making them fit. I almost gave up because I didn't have the right tools. You need some kind of clamp to bring the ends of the U-bolt closer to fit in that bracket on the bottom under the leaf springs, or buy different U-bolts. I have heard that you should get steel or iron as well. The aluminum supposedly cracks quite easily. A torque wrench will come in handy to where you don't crack them while tightening the U-bolts. Of course the jack and stand. Hope this helps.

black99 I just put in 2" blocks in 99 sport v6
and it looks quite a bit lower in the back.
It measuered 31 3/4"(wheel well to floor)in front
and 33 3/4" in back. After installing the blocks it raised the front 1/8" must have been from weight transfer,but it looks funny.
My 2" springs are on back order for a month so I can put up with it.
I would wait till you can do everything or get 1"
blocks now and rest later with 2" hangers to get 3" in back.

no black99 I dont have digi cam and I just did the blocks friday . I have 4 3/4" gap between wheel well and top of tire with 275/60/15 BFG
tires which are a little over 27" tall if that helps. it looks like the front sits up an inch taller, it doesn't just an optical illusion I guess. when I showed my buddy he thought it alot higher in the front also. so it's not just me.
I hope my 2" springs give me at least 1 1/2"
and keep you old u-bolts so you can change it back if you want. I'm sure you'll want to go lower. I think 2/3 would look good and still be quite driveable, also you wouldn't be measuring it everyday to see if it's level cause your still an inch above in the back
