 Subject: Parts Store Rental Tools Abs. Suck!

Every damn time I rent a tool from an auto parts store I have to recondition the f'ng thing for it to work properly. Honestly, I sometimes have to wonder what in God's name were they doing!
Yey, new tool from Checker (Checker-Shucks-Kragen)!
Sh1t, what is this f'ng burr on it? or, what the hell happened to the threads???
And it gets taken to the sander, file, dremel, etc. to fix this sh1t.
What are people doing? Honestly, some of these marks are not even possible with the tool's operating procedure.
Oh yeah, Merry Christmas from pissed off me at 3:00AM.

I didn't know it took a metal worker to fix a tool. I know what you mean about rental tools sucking. Thats true with more than just tools; anything rented usually is broken somehow just cause there have been so many different hands on it.

Who said I am an amateur? I could be a 15 year journeymen and certified welding engineer with an EE degree. You have no idea who I am. Welcome to the internet.
However, I am no liar, I am neither of those things. I do have some very light experience in metal working. Enough to fix a couple mashed threads and burrs here and there.
I could take the tool back, but it doesn't change the fact I still need that tool. So I fix.
Just makes me wonder how people damage these things though.
