Subject: Engine block heater IP: Logged
Message: I'm moving to Anchorage, AK. (From Florida, so I know nothing about cold weather and it's effects) I plan on getting a block heater for my 01 Dak in Seattle. Besides the xtension cord, timer and radiator cover is there anything else I should know to do and not do? Also, can I get a little more info on how to do a radiator cardboard cover?
Thanks

Message: Take your beer box, take out a piece of one of the top flaps, stick it in front of your radiator covering a portion of it. You are done.
If you really want an extension cord, try to look for the ones that can take cold weather. Its not as much as the cold, but more of it laying in snow. A good size guage too. You can usually find good winter cords for this use in stores about now. They are thick, don't crisp up in the snow, and are lighted at the ends.
One last thing, is to do a check up on your vehicle. All fluids, tires, etc. This is very important.
That's all I can really think of you would need to do. I hope you enjoy the 24 hour twilight, lol :)

Message: might want to get an oil heater too. Also in the winter months take your battery inside for the night. Cold batteries loose their CCA and discharge quicker.
