Message: So my son has his heart set on a 1996 Ford Ranger.
A friend of mine is willing to sell it to me cheap. I've never owned a Ford, but the price is right. I know this won't be a popular thread, but does anyone own a Ford Ranger?
Some input would be appreciated.

Message: Hey, if you can get a great deal on the Ranger, go for it...It's all perspective on USA brands.

Message: Go for it b/c of the price. I have seen them go over 200 thousand miles with no problems like the Dakota.

Message: I don't have a Ranger, but I've got a '98 Mazda B2500 SE, which is a Ranger clone. It's got the 4-banger 5 speed in it, but it's no slouch. It gives my stock 2002 Dak 3.9 automatic all it wants. If the Dakota gives me the same kind of service that the Mazda's given me for 50K miles...stuck thermostat, that's it...and still drives like a champ...I'll be incredibly pleased. I'm trying to sell the Mazda for $6500, and it's in great shape, if anyone might know someone who's interested, BTW...P

Message: I definitely know that feeling, my dad got me my 98' Dakota and i let him know every once in a while that he's the coolest dad in the world for letting me have this truck and that it is a great privelege to be giving me the things he never had. My truck is the newest truck in my family. My sis has a early 90's honda accord. My mom has a 95 dodge caravan. My dad has a 96 ford explorer, it's a good feeling to have......
