Subject: Dumb electrical question IP: Logged
Message: My wife was following me the other day and told me that my brake lights (all 3) are not working on my '98 Dakota. I checked my control box in the engine compartment, and all seems okay. Checked my fuses in the truck, and all seem okay. I checked the bulbs by putting them in my directional signals, and the bulbs are good. What could my problem be(Other than pure ignorance)? Has anyone else had a simalar experience?

Message: There should be a switch near the brake pedal to detect this. I would start there since all 3 are out.

Message: Chris,
Thanks a million. That was indeed the problem. I called NAPA and was told that it was a dealer only item. So I called Autozone, and they had one in stock for $11.00 and some change. Again, thanks sooooo much.
Oh.. If anyone else runs into this problem, once you get the new switch in, make sure you turn it just ever so slightly to get it to stay in the hole.
