Message: I had a '99 CC 4x4 5.2L and now have a '00 QC 4x4 5.9L. I had a few small problems with the '99, but the '00 has been nothing but trouble. It is in the shop right now for a burned up transmission. Numerous trans problems, as well as a ton of other stuff.

Message: extended cab (CC) only comes with a 3.9L or 5.2L and there both very similar, but of course the 5.2L (318) will be more fun since it's a V8

Message: To Troy,
Hey i just bought a 2000 4x4 QC with the 5.9L.
Can you tell more about the problems you are having, so far i am very happy with my truck except for the mid 11's gas mileage. I have done my own tuneup and it helped a lot but i am wondering if i might have a partially clogged CAT since the mileage is so low. I have almost 70,000k on the truck and would like to hear what everyone thinks. this is what i have done to it so far. K&N filter, IAT moved to Filter box, Cleaned TB, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, cold air tube to front of truck. Replaced rear end lube(which fixed the only squeaks in the rear of the truck). The dealer just replaced the fluids in the tranny before i bought.

Message: 2001,4.7L, 5 speed,Club Cab. Out of the box it's your best bet for performance, utility and reliability. It isn't a slouch in automatic form either. If performance weighs high, then you could opt for the 5.9L and get more engine mods but it comes as automatic only and gas milage will be poor. Avoid the 3.9L V6 as it is over worked in this size truck(especially when hauling or towing) and gas milage ends up equalling the 4.7L V8. Just my opinion. Don't want to start a string of hate mail.

Message: I wouldnt necessarily say avoid the 3.9 all together. If you get one with the manual tranny its not all that bad. I picked up my wife's old celica on a roll back near the western border of w. va. I pulled it through the mountains back to the east coast of va with no problems at all. For a v-6 mine pulls exceptionally well. Then again it is also a RC.

Message: My Y2K has been fine. I had a vibration problem that was driving me NUTS for qute some time, but it turned out to be tires that weren't round. Other than the tire problem, no issues at all with mine.
If you're looking for a 4X4 and want to do a suspension lift or gear swaps to run large tires, stick with a 97-99. Y2K and newer 4X4's have a different front axle and rack and pinion steering that makes it all but impossible to do a quality suspension lift. And nobody makes gears for the front axle of the 00 and newer, but there are all kinds of gears available for the Dana 35 front end of the 97-99.
