Message: Ok, i got the silver 97-03 dakota grilles from Grille-Tech, i'v allready installed my upper grilles days ago, but i got my lower grille yesterday and want to put it in today. As i went through the instructions, i found you have to use some metal holder type of thing, 2 of them. Can anybody help me on this, i tried to fit it but i really don't know how this thing works...help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Message: Hey drew. The two clips that are provided clip onto the facia on the inside. Just clip the U shaped part onto the facia where the little side with the hole faciing into the hole where the grille goes. I tried myself to use all 4 but on the upper part of the facia it was too thick and i couldnt get the clips to stay on. I just put two of them on the lower right and left side and they are holding just fine. I put two ties on each vertical piece of the facia and one through each end of the grille to two of the clips provided and left the other two clips off. Here is a pic if it helps. If you need any other info or pics of mine just drop me a line and ill be more than glad to help.

Message: I didn't use my little steel things ooops. I used the trans cooler and the 3 vertical "beams" for support. I guess it's a good thing I have a silver truck.
I paid $79 shipped for mine too, but since mine was on back order for over 2 months they gave me a $20 refund check, so mine was only $59 shipped

Message: yeah it is clevite, i hate how much that shows through on the bottom insert. i think im going to paint the bumper behind the bottom insert either black or dark grey so it dosent show through so well. I also bought one of those billet fuel doors today, man i cant wait to get that thing put on!

Message: before you paint your lower bumper, what about getting some white zip ties? and carefully paint the part of the zip tie that sticks outside of the insert black or aluminum. Just an idea, I'd hate to read a post from you in 2 weeks asking on how to remove paint without removing the stock paint too LOL

Message: Well its not just seeing the zip ties that i dont like. Its how well you can see the vertical posts and the rest of the facia behind the grill. On the upper 4 i cant see anything behind them and thats how i would like the lower to be. I dunno maybe ill think of something else besides paint. Any suggestions?

Message: I see what cha mean, I really can't think of anything right off hand, your paint idea might be the best route to go in that case. But before you do paint it, either cover it with electrical tape, or paint some masking tape, just so you can see what it looks like before you go to far with it.
