Subject: Fog light Wiring problem
IP: Logged

Message:
For some odd reason I have constant power going to my fogs now. Before they went constant hot the fuse blew for them so I replaced it and it didn't blow but now I have constant power so I had to unplug them. I checked the relay and that is fine. Could it be the switch. It is driving me absolutly crazy. Been this way for a week now.

Thanks,
Laro 99 R/T CC

Are your fog lights aftermarket lights?
The wiring harness on my 00 CC V-6 Dak is constant hot as well, had to isolate the aftermarket fogs (from the metal chassis)to make it work properly.
Hope this helps
Gary

Gary,
Were you using the factory switch and wiring? Did you ground the wires from both the fog light and factory wiring? cause I tried that and it still has constant power, no way to shut the lights off? I'm still stumped, thanks for the help though.

I did use the factory wiring and switch. when i first wired it up i had the lights lying on the ground, they worked perfectly. when i bolted them to the steel bumper brackets they stayed on all the time and blew the fuse as well. I used the old factory foglight plastic brackets to isolate the new fogs and all worked just fine.
Hope this helps a bit more
Gary
Bottom Line, Isolate those new fogs

"Isolate those new fogs"

Meaning, making sure no metal from the fogs touches the mounting brackets, in turn connection it to the whole chassis right?
