Subject: Dakota MSRP vs Purchase Price IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking at a new 2002 or 2003 Dakota and would like some advice. What
kind of reduction can I expect from an MSRP of $24,000 - $27,000 on a Club
or Quad?

Message: Just put in the options on www.edmunds.com or www.carpoint.com and see what the invoice is. You have to add about $450 for advertising as they will surely have that in their invoice, and then there is a $2000 rebate or 0% 60 month financing (the 0% is worth more then the rebate). The farm bureau membership can save you another $500 but you have to be a member 30 days to get it (membership is usually less then $50). I went down to get a 4x4 quad the other day and without a trade the monthly payment for 60 months would have been $424 with zero down selling a 27,750 MSRP Sport plus for $25,950 and then taking the $500 farm rebate off and going with the 0% financing. I would have done it if they didn't lowball my R/T so bad ($11,800 on a 16,500 mile 2000!)

Message: I found a useful pricing guide at the websites of two local credit unions as well as the ones mentioned by Hersbird. They allow you to select a base model, add all your options and deduct for any factory rebates. I let them know I knew what it was selling for and got $4700 off sticker which was about $500 less than the online guides. Seemed like a good deal to me but watch them on the trade; that's where they make money these days.
