Message: No offense dude, but did you really expect them to work on your engine under warrenty when you put on a supercharger?
Now it wont void your entire warrenty, but I can guarentee it would void the engine part of it.
oh and its void.

Message: This information was taken straight from a manufacturers website.
Q: Doesn't running boost on an engine put more strain on the engine's parts?
A: Not necessarily. RPM is what kills engine parts. Typically, an unblown engine has to run up to 7,000 or 8,000 rpm to make any real power. At these high speeds you need a special crank, rods, pistons, rocker arms, valves, valve springs, and on and on. But a blower substantially increases power and torque at much lower rpm's. You usually don't have to run a blown engine over about 6,000 rpm to make maximum power. At these speeds stock engine components are usually more than adequate.
Additionally an engine sees maximum load on the components at the moment the piston changes speed from going up in the cylinder to going down. There is a commonly held theory, too complicated to go into here, that increasing the combustion pressure, which a supercharger does, actually reduces this maximum load when piston travel changes from up to down. Under this theory, at comparable rpm's a blown engine is easier on parts than an unblown engine.
In actuality, as long as detonation is controlled, you rarely have any engine failures with a blower.

Message: Even bernd says that the 5.9 is prone to blowing head gaskets under pressure. It is pretty easy to tell if the engine failed because of the blower.

If and engine failed using a SC what signs would be obvious that the SC did in fact cause the failer.

Message: Usualy detonation with blown head gaskets. Stuff like cracked cylinder heads, melted pistons. That is what kills 90% of all supercharged engines that I have heard about.
I really don't blame mopar for voiding warranty. Look at it from their point of view. You build a product designed to do a certain job. Then somebody goes and makes it handle twice the load that it was designed to do with non approved parts. Then wants warranty when it comes apart. If I was a manufacturer I would do the same thing. Certainly not to the exent that some dealers go. But a supercharger is crossing the line and still wanting warranty.

Message: I have to agree with CW. A supercharger is a pretty radical mod for a brand new truck. I'm not disparaging the abilities of mike 2, but DC has no clue as to the mechanical abilities of the person who did the work. Most of the people I've seen trying to work on their own vehicles, I wouldn't trust with a slice of bread and a butter knife.
I also have an '02, albeit not an R/T, but I have the 7 year warranty, and I'm hesitant to replace anything...but I'm gonna do it, anyway. I've already ordered several items, but I may wait until the truck has a few more miles on it before I start to swap stuff out. I know about the Magnusson-Moss warranty act and all that, and I also know that when I install my mods, I know what I'm doing and that they'll go on right, so I can be 99% sure that they won't cause a problem. Having said all that, I also know that I'm still at the mercy of my dealer, whether they want to be human and work on my truck under warranty or not. But, I wouldn't EVEN expect to get warranty work on a supercharged engine that didn't start out that way. That'd be a pretty good stretch. Just my 2 cents...

Message: mike 2: To save yourself the hassle & exposure of taking your modified Dak to the dealer, why don't you pull the engine code yourself?!? All you have to do is insert the ignition key, turn it the on position (not start), back to off, back to one, back to off, and back to on. Leave the key in the on position the third time, and the code will scroll through the mileage/tripometer window. You can then look up whatever code(s) you get on www.obdii.com.
This way, if something does actually break, you at least have a chance of pulling off the supercharger before taking it to the dealership. The dealership in turn will have to prove that the failure was a result of abuse/neglect or a cause of some after-market component (which is no longer on the engine) before denying any warranty work.

Message: Sounds like the injector itself could be fried. But since you have the m1 on it and you put your injectors in it, if the clip is broken it could come unplugged. my 92 shows injector output not responding when it does that on mine. But, do not drive it hard until that is fixed or you will be doing some serious work on the engine and I don't think the dealer will want to warranty it.
