 Subject: Bouncing truck.

I have a 99 Dakota 4x4Club Cab with 57,000 miles. When braking, the truck shakes badly. The more abrupt my stop, the worse it shakes. I do not feel anything in the pedal though. Is this a brake problem or a tire problem?

that happened to me once it was a warped rear rotor. might want to give that a try.

Get the rotors machined and ask them to torque the wheels by hand to about 100 ft/lbs or they will warp again.

You know, I've had Les Schwab torque mine in ranges of 90-120+ in one wheel, several times. I don't know what the hell is wrong with them, but when I tell them directly, TORQUE IT TO 100, THEY DON'T! You just gotta do it yourself. I agree though, keep them on 100 and don't trust anyone but you torqing them.

I have nearly 19,500 on my 2002 and no one has done any maintenance to it but me. I've rotated the tires 3 times and had Bell Tire fix 2 flat tires, and in both cases I dropped of the tire to be fixed, and I put them back on myself. You should see the look on the guys face when he asks for the keys and I tell him NO ONE DRIVES MY TRUCK hehe. But I'll tell you what, I torque my lug nuts to 100ft lbs and at 19,500 I still don't have any problems
