Message: My dad loves to boost his dino oil by adding a quart of marvel mystery oil at each oil change. It keeps the ole crankcase clean and helps prevent oxidation of the oil according to his mechanic.1 qt.of marvel to 4 qts.of valvoline all climate and change oil at 3500 miles.Thats dad`s secret to long motor life.

Message: I would try talking dad into testing his oil. With out oil test he has no idea what his oil is doing to the rest of his engine!!!!!!!!Just because his crankcase is clean does not mean his engine is not wearing like crazy. I had custmomers that wanted to use MMO and I always cautioned them not to drive vechile with MMO in it. If they wanted to flush the engine I always told them to put a quart of it in and run engine at 1000 - 1500 rpm's for 15 minutes and drain. I also cautioned them not to do this more often then every 50,000 miles. I would rather they had never used it in their engine. In a properly functioning engine it realy has no place. It is fine to try if a lifter is sticking or a ring is sticking but other then that It is not good news. There are no additives in it so their is no way it can "fordify" dino oil. All it can do is thin the Dino oil out and act as a solvent. It has no anti-wear additives, no acid neutralizers, no friction modifiers, no dispersants.....I can tell you what you Dads oil test will reveal. It will reveal that his iron, tin, lead and aluminum levels are realy high meaning that his pistons, rings and bearings are wearing like crazy. Do not get me wrong it is a relatively safe solvent/light bodied lube for limited use. I have used it in transmissions, engines and fuel system.I urge you to use caution and to switch to a good synthetic oil so you do not need to use this.

Message: Victor,
I think that Dad needs to be more worried about his HMO and leave the formulating of oils to the oil manufacturers.
My Dad is 68 years old and switched to Synthetic oils many years ago after reading several magazine articles on the benefits of using synthetics.
He recently took a trip from Georgia to Alaska and back without an oil change (almost 13,000 miles) running a 0w-30 Synthetic Oil (it used 1 Qt. on the whole trip) in a 1988 Motorhome that had a 460 Ford engine and a C-6 Transmission.
He swithched everything in this motorhome to Synthetic and when he returned we ran an oil analysis on the oil and it was found to be suitable for continued use by the oil lab.
No petroleum oil spiked with any aftermarket additive will ever be able to do this.

My Dad's Dad remembers using "sheepskin" condoms.
Does this mean "Dad was always right?" and is still
right ... and we should use what he used?
