Message: My two cents...
The Edelbrocks will do badass for you, i have heard some say the Bilistiens are too soft up front. It is all a matter of personal preferance. If i were you I would go with Edelbrocks. They are a quality product.

Message: The only thing I can compare it to would be the stock shocks -- that's not very interesting. They are light as hell, a nice yellow, and the box is in German is all the review I got on them right now. The install for shocks on the Dakota looks like it's SUPER easy. 70 ft/lbs, if I remember right, on those bolts if anyone was wondering.

Message: I put Edelbrocks and there great, the stock shocks were to soft every bump was bounce and roll, it felt like a full size 1985 Oldsmobile.

Message:
Rob - The Edelbrock IAS shocks will not work with a drop more than 2". I was thinking about keeping my IAS when I lowered my Dak (Hotchkis suspension)and I emailed Edelbrock. They told me the "stock height" shocks would work in the front, but not the back.
As for my impression of the Edelbrocks ... I think you can get an equal/better shock for the money. I had two sets on my Dak (first set went at 2000 or so miles and Edelbrock replaced them) and they are definitely better than stock. However I know a lot of people love their Ranchos and they are considerably cheaper.
Regarding the Bilstein shocks ... The custom tuned shocks that Hotchkis sells for their suspension will not ride the same as normal Bilsteins. Hotchkis removes the valves in the Bilsteins and tunes them to their own specs.

Message: I think i am going to go with the ProComp ES9000. They are cheaper than alot of them and they perform very well, from what I have heard from Bernd. I have driven my dads Ram with Ranchos on it and I dislike the ride on the road and off with those shocks. I really prefer my stock shocks with 97,000 miles on them than those things. They performed very poorly. I was very disapointed, but thats just me.

Message: I have the Edelbrocks and I am very happy with them. I bought them off ebay from a guy that ordered the wrong ones for his truck so I got a good deal. I am certain that Bilstein and Pro Comp are both excellent as well..heck, anything is better than the weak stock shocks.
Good luck,

Message: I got the springtech 2" coils and 3" blocks for my 4.7 CC, and the height is perfect, the springs feel fine, but the stock shocks in rear need to be WAY stiffer for my preference. The springtech shocks are ok, bc I do need a better swaybar up-front and probably in the rear too, but I still want the stiffest longest-lasting shock out there. I think that would work wonders.
Who makes the best sway-bars for the 01' 4.7 CC Dak?

Message: I installed the Bilstiens valved for Hotchkis, My truck is dropped 2/2 the shocks have never bottomed. The only comparision I have is the factory HD shock and the DJM, with the factory shock the truck floated over bumps, the DJM's were junk I installed and removed them in about 1 hour, a 10 minute drive was enough, they were worse than the factory and the factory's had about 35K on them. I have been very happy with the Bilstiens but the price might change your mind if you are on a budget, $ 85 ea.
