Subject: I want your opinions on... IP: Logged
Message: I went to Meineke the other day and I was looking for just a muffler. I have a stock v6 and want to keep the stock tubing etc. Just change out the muffler for a nice sound. They had a Vortex that ran about 100 dollars installed. Is that a fair price? Does anyone have any complaints about Meineke? And also if anyone else has this muffler, are they happy with it??

Message: Don't go to Meineke!
They installed the wrong exhaust on mine (wanted a Flowmaster 50), and then told me it would take a few days to get the proper muffler in. After a week of waiting I had to go on a trip. During the trip the welds holding the exhaust up broke! Came back home after the trip, and they -still- didn't have the proper muffler. Then they told me that the Flowmaster 50 was -louder- than the Flowmaster 40...
Then they informed me that it would be another $125 for them to fix the screw up! So I say, don't go to Mieneke!

Message: Thanks. And I will make sure that I stay as far away from that place as I can. But do can you suggest another place to go?

Message: Todd W.,
I`m sorry you had a problem with Meineke , and I`ve got nothing to gain by saying this , but, it`s not fair to slam an entire co. that has stores all over ,run by different people , that employes different people just because you had a problem with one store. Now I would say don`t go to the one YOU went to , if you feel you were hosed.
Maybe the tech. sucked or was having a bad day(NO EXCUSE), but that doesn`t mean the one 200mi. away has bad help. They might be the best around.
As far as where to go...check a few places and ask around , then go with the place you feel best about. If you always go to the cheapest place for things , remember , you get what you pay for!

Message: Well, that is true. But I am also extremely displeased with the "Your only one person" attitude that their corporate office took when I got ahold of them. I was basically told that there was nothing that could be done, because the store I went too was a franchise store that they didn't have control over.
Ah... right...
Anyway, I like Muffler Man. Or Rainbow Muffler as I hear it's called in some parts of the nation... I've been to a few of those, and they always are very helpful.

Message: When I broke my muffler over a rock I took it to Midas. They installed it, with their house brand Ravin muffler and it sounded great...no complaints.
About a month later I noticed one of the welds started sucking and leaking air. So I called em up told them that. They told me to come in. They fixed the weld apoligized, and didn't even question it.
If they are all as nice as my local Midas is go there.
