Subject: chlorinated oil additives IP: Logged
Message: I made the mistake of using a chlorinated oil additive in my Dak,in this case it was an oil "fortifier." I have since read that chlorinated additives are potentially corrosive in internal combustion engines.Needless to say I`ve decided to stop using it.How do you go about flushing that crap out of the crankcase and away from the metal? Or is it enough just to drain the oil as usual? The manufacturer of the product claims it has a high enough T.B.N.reserve to neutralize the corrosive effects of the chlorinated compounds, but I`m not convinced.

I suggest going down to your local parts store and picking up some cheap petroleum oil and a cheap filter and use that to flush the engine.
You could also get in touch with the AMSOIL sponsor here and order a can of the AMSOIL engine flush.
After flushing the engine I would recommend switching your truck over to the AMSOIL Synthetic oil.
Most everyone who uses an oil additive is looking for longer engine life and better fuel economy and nothing does that better than a high quality synthetic motor oil.
