intense99dak Gen III 1/10/2001 18:21:10 | RE: SHORT SHIFTER IP: Logged Message: The manual transmission in the v6 Dakota's is the AX-15. Hurst does make a shifter for the AX-15 only. Part number is 391-5050 from Jegs.com and is $191.98 shipped to your door. Mine just arrived today, but I don't have any pictures of it yet. If you look at http://www.mrgasket.com/ftp/pdf/HN2000.pdf On page 19 you can see a picture of it and some specs. The shifter is more angled that what it shows in the picture with a (about) 40 degree angle once it somes out of the boot. It does clear the center section of the seats no problem. The shifter is also angled towards the driver by about 8 - 10 degrees. The throw is measured at 7 1/2" - 8". The instructions are excellent and I hope to have it installed this coming Sunday. I'll have some photos and instructions up on my page shortly thereafter. Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |

intense99dak Gen III 1/11/2001 00:01:01 | RE: SHORT SHIFTER IP: Logged Message: Bernd, The only reason why this shifter won't fit a lifted Dakota (as it sits on my desk in front of me) is because the billet shifter arm isn't long enough before it bends. The shifter arm is held on by two screws and can be replaced with another shifter arm (I wish I still had my digital camera so I could send you a pic). It might be worth an email to Hurst or B&M to see if they have something compatible. Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |

intense99dak Gen III 1/11/2001 01:10:40 | RE: SHORT SHIFTER IP: Logged Message: Yes, there is. You could take a piece of metal which is the needed length and drill two sets of holes in it. One set for the handle and one set for the shifter mechanism. Then bolt everything together. I'm going to throw the shifter on my scanner tomorrow evening and try to get a few pics of the connection. I'll let you know how I make out. Chuck Robbins '99 Dakota Sport www.intense99dak.com |
