Message: What do you guys feel is the one thing you hate the most on the dakota. I dont like how the chair wont return to its position after letting someone in the back. But i love the truck. It screams quality compaired to a s-10. Just wondering.

Message: It's a toss-up : (1) I really LOATHE the order process. D.C. has repeatedly pushed back the build date of my truck, so now I'm left a pedestrian at their complete mercy. I suppose that's what I get for trusting the dealership.
(2) I'm not real thrilled with the lack of paint on the lower bumpers for the SLT package. C'mon... this is the top-level trim package. It reminds me of the entry-level Honda "DX" (unpainted bumpers, manual windows, etc).

I hate how I can't get front tow hooks for the 2000 model.
I hate how my dealer gave me crap about using my 4x4 as a 4x4.
I hate how the computer and the gas guage both read 0 miles til empty when the 22 gal tank still has 4 gallons in it.
I hate how the skid plate holds used oil after an oil change. (Drilled it out)
I hate the "harmonic" vibration I get above 80 MPH. It's not the wheel balance. The whole truck vibrates at the same frequence as the stick. Dealer (Marietta Dodge, Atlanta) won't fix the problem because they claim they can't legaly duplicate it. (Duh, use Dyno. or just put it in a lift).

Message: The access panel for the oil filter, what a pain to change the filter. You spill more than you catch.
No lock for glove box
No gas lid lock. Anyone can put stuff into your gas tank. A basic Civic has one.
No tailgate lock.
Easy to cut break lines on 4X4's so visible to see.
It's still a great truck.

Message: Ughh - yeah, I had a Nissan Sentra for 4 days. All the pickup of a geriatric hamster... compared to the Dak it was absolutely ball-less.
I LOVE MY DAK - It's funny - I hear others talk the 3.9 down, but I have driven a friend's Silverado - like a big dumb greyhound bus, borrowed an Xterra for a day - cute, zippy, but again, ball-less.... there is no comparison. I test drove a 5.9 2001 V8 SLT a couple of weeks ago just to make the comparison - WOW! Sure doesn't make mine feel like crap though. My truck makes my Mazda Tribute-driving brother-in-law salivate! Sure, it has had it's moments (like giving it new ball joints last year for Christmas) when I've cursed it, but all-in-all the best vehicle I've ever driven.
