Subject: Black Magic in Hot Summer Heat IP: Logged
Message: I was going back through the archives looking for posts about the Black Magic Fan. I have a 5.2 with A/C and I was wondering if anyone had any problems running this alone with the A/C in 90+ temperatures. Here in Ohio, temps can get really hot and humid! I saw that you can add a compressor relay, which helps a lot. I read in Jegs that it comes with a 180 deg. thermostat. Do you think that the 160 deg. would make it cool better? I'm seriously interested in getting one, but I don't want to waste my time or money if it will do damage to my truck. It is my only mode of transportation. I ask because I have a gift certificate and I heard that it will really free up some power and increase the gas mileage.
Thanks,
Jason

Message: speaking from experience...... leave the clutch fan on!! The black magic isnt enough for our 5.2 in heavy use conditions (up hill, towing, offroad) My truck would start to run hot offroad even with the air off!! I put the clutch fan back on, and went 4 wheeling in 112 degree heat with the air on...... No Problems
just my $.02
