Message: I had my tires rotated at my dealer when the book said on my oil change then. Well, I just now go to take off my rims to clean them inside and out. And The first one comes off alright, get to the next one.. The little cap breaks off the nut, and the things tight as well. Guy at the dealer really socked these damn things down. So, I go to the next one, get a couple loosened up after some swearing, and the next one......... cap breaks off the nut, im like, WTF, so I look at the thing, looks like its cross threaded! so I got all pissed off and the hell with it. So much for cleaning my rims. So, I have to go to the dealership hopefully monday and give them my two cents. Do they carry solid lugs? Or are they all this "tin cap" thing. Anyway, hopefully it wont be cross threaded, cause that means I gotta leave my truck there, which I dont have time to do. Erg.. Damn dealerships.

Message: i work at a tire store, and when we put on after market wheels that have exposed lugs we use these solid chrome lugs. i got 24 solid chrome lugs for my truck, and they look better than oe lugs. so just got to a reputable tire store and ask them for 24 SOLID lugs with 19 millimeter hex head so you can use your factory lugwrench and with a thread size of 12 on 1.5 tell them that exactly and they shouldn't have a problem. the lugs may cost you about 20 dollars and change

Message: I was thinking about that going with a solid aftermarket lug. A buddy of mine works at a parts store, so, maybe I can get a deal :) Butta, I gotta go have the rod peice there checked out monday. Hopefully it's not cross threaded. 19mm - 12/1.5 Gotta try and remember that! Thanks for the size though! I appreciate it!

Message: no problem, for the size. i already knew it. i always try to do my own work on my truck whenever possible. i will only take it there for warrenties or recalls. knock on wood nothing has happened yet. you could probably take your truck to your buddies place they can probably just replace the stud for you. truth be told, one of the lugs was stripped on when i took the wheels off to balance them at work the SECOND day i had the truck (i got it the night before). i was pissed to no end but i said hell with it and replaced the stud at work right then, i knew if i took it to the dealer they would have screwed me over. stud cost $.75 and the lugs were $.25 a piece. not bad considering we sell the lugs for $1.00 a piece.

Message: I called up my buddy at the parts store. He wanted 2 dollars and some change per lug! I was like, dude, the hell with you. So, I gotta try like Autozone or something sometime.. Might as well rotate the tires when I get them!

Message: Motorsportdak, once again I state my case about putting lug nuts on with a tourqe wrench instead of an impact gun... and yes the tin cap nuts suck! ALL the manufacturers use them and they ALL have the caps break off. We have the solid ones at AUTO ZONE for about 1.79 a piece. Question though, if you would have had the tires rotated at a tire shop would THEY SUCK TOO ? or just dealerships?

Message: I suppose the title of the thing here is incorrect. Just a little pissed off that one of their "certified" tech's cross threaded a lug. Just striked me as amusing. Sure as hell wouldn't want him working on any other part of my truck. I throw my lugs on with an impact gun on the lowest setting, just to get them on, and then torque them down.. Never do it with the gun.
