Message: Hey I need some advice... I recently purchased a 1997 Nissan Maxima and it had around 101,000 miles on it I switched over to full synthetic
when I start the car sometimes (usually cold engine) the oil light flickers for a second or two is this bad? should I go back to Dyno?

In a word ..... NO.
This happens and it is inherent with synthetics..
If the Marlins were not rallying late in the game I would say more.

Message: Check your oil pump, make sure that's ok first. I wouldn't blame the synthetic off the bat, but I wouldn't start running synthetic in an engine with that kind of mileage and wear on it. Asking for trouble in my opinion. Good luck though, it'll probably be fine. Those Japanese engines can take a lickin. Probably be far more trouble free with those miles than a new Dakota. LOL

Correct Larry,
The light being on for that "short period" does not mean oil isn't there at the bearings, it just hasn't built up enough pressure to tun off the idiot light.
Ask yourself, is the condition only at startup or is it also at idle? Different conditions that need different responses.
