------------
my bud did a tranny fluid change for me yesterday. I backed the truck out from under his garage. We only put the gallon of tranny fluid in, so I didn't push the hood down all the way, only the first click (if that). We check the dipstick and it showed full, but I stll had a quart to put in, according to what the Mopar parts place gave me.
Anyways, we went inside so he could change shirts,a nd then we took off for McD's.... at about 45-50mph (5 miles down the road mind you) WHAM.. the fuking hood came up. Luckily there was no traffic.. we just pulled over and no one was hurt, no wrecks etc. My bud was all freaking thinking I was gonna blame him for it. I was just kind laughing about it (if I didn't laugh about it, I would have gotten pissed and kicked the side of my door in) We had to bend one of the braces back into place but managed to push the hood back down and latch it. We continued on to McD's and enjoyed lunch.
This was TOTALLY my fault. if you EVER do anything under your hood, make sure to latch it! I always do, but was distracted this time by us going into his house and talking to the family and what not for 30 minutes.
luckily, my insurance is going to cover it with no deductible and my premium won't change since I have never claimed anything with them.
If this happend a year ago, I would be buying a RamAir hood, but since I plan on selling this truck this summer ;) I am just going to let the body shop fix it and be done with it.

Message: where are you located, I have a stock hood in my garage collecting dust. That way you may be able to make a little profit off the insurance company.

Message: thx for the offer d00d, I am in New Orleans
The insurance co is going to do it all thru the body shop... I won't have to do anything
I am going to ask the body shop guy if he can buy a Reflexxions Cowl hood instead of an expensive Mopar unit.. I am sure the cowl would be waaaay cheaper
thx though =]
