Why me?

I just had a new engine installed in my money pit that I love so very much. After the initial break in period of 600 miles, I changed the oil and filter. Started my 1100 mile journey back home and at the first pulll off of the interstate, the oil pressure dropped to 0 for 1-2seconds at idle. It came right back up to 50 and I pulled on into the gas station. The whole right side of the engine was soaked in oil. I noticed that it was coming out of the breather filter and that the PCV was also allowing oil to go into the intake manifold. The oil was 1.5 quarts low and I refilled it, but now I am 320 miles from the repair shop and had 800 more homeward bound. Called the mechanic and said that he didn't know, and that it was because the breather filter didn't fit tight into the rubber gasket and then onto the valve cover. Well, do to the fact that I have to work the next day, I have to get home. So I start back out on the road. At my next gas point, the same thing happened, press dropped for a second, and was 1.5 quarts low. This time I know that most of it was coming out of the breather filter just by looking at it. So this guy and I bought some sandwich bags and wrapped the filter up and ziptied it closed. Now the bags are sucking inward from the vacuum. Why would it go from blowing out to a vac? Well at the next gas stop it was still low in oil without a press drop this time, and the elgine was just a little covered not dripping like last few times.

I know this probably has no reason behind it, but thought I'd share this little bit. The right side vavle cover (new magnum ones) has the breather filter and the pcv, the left side has the oil cap and another pcv, but no hook ups. the left pcv was letting a little oil pass by and drain onto the block. Should I replace the left pcv with another breather filter like I've seen before?

What is the problem?
