Subject: Silver or White??? IP: Logged
Message: First off thanks to everyone who has helped me over the past week or so in my quest to become a Dakota owner.
I think it's just about go time. A local dodge dealer has 2 Daks that are both SLT Plus 4.7L Club Cabs and both optioned pretty much the same except for color.
My current car is black and living in the dusty desert as a I do, either silver or white (which are the two colors in question) will be a welcome change from the PIA that black can be and as luck would have it they (silver and white) are the two colors I originally set out to find when I started looking at Dakotas. Sooo... now I just need to decide between the two and am having difficulty doing that! :-)
So I need help. What is everyone's opinion. Help me decide! :-)
Thanks!!!!

Message: i have white, and i think i would go with the silver.
the white really hides scratches and dints, and looks really good when its polished, but i love silver.
white also looks brownish when it gets dirty.
maby im just a little sick of white.

Message: Having owned a dark colored truck, one of the purchasing criteria was for a light colored rig. I ended up buying a silver Dak, and have absolutely no regrets. It's amazing how dirty it can get before it actually looks dirty!!

Message: Just bought a new Dakota. Silver and White were my first choices also. so i got silver. just picked it up yesterday, so i cant attest to how it looks dirty, but i used to have a silver nissan pickup, and it took awhile to look dirty. but when it was clean, you could definitely tell, cuz it looked sharp.

Message: Silver.
I rented a silver car in Florida and when I turned the thing back in it was amazing how filthy it was up close, but how clean it looked from 10 feet away.

Message: I have to agree with thee above,
I was in the same predicament as you. I just turned in a....well....uhh...it was...an s10 extreme (black) and I wouldn't go back, unless it was for show.
Not to offend ya Eric or any other white truck owners, but I think white looks too much like a Sprint or other work truck.
Granted some cars look really nice bright white with tinted windows, and all. But not a Dakota

Message: I have the Silver, and usually looks clean until you get up close and see the dust. The only problem with silver is it doesn't appear to be as "shiny" as other colors, but it really is.

Just lookin at your pics. Nice truck. Just wondering tho, is that a Grillcraft Grill insert you have? If so, keep an eye on it, I had one on mine and it started rusting in a few weeks so I returned it for a refund.

Message: Definatly silver.. I was originally looking at a graphite RT, but got the silver instead. Now everytime the silver one is dirty, it looks oddly graphite. A quick run through the pressure wash stripping the caked on mud and road salt off to reveal a shiny silver colour.... Its almost orgasmic.
Silver, its the last colour you'll ever want to own...

Message: Lew: No, my grille is an overlay (factory grille is underneath) made by Mr Grille at www.wee1.com. I got both the uppers and lowers for $100 from his regular auctions on E-Bay. I like the different appearance and it matches my silver truck very very well.
That grille has been on my truck for over 9 months and aside from a couple of scratches between the slats where I open the hood (I intentionally didn't install the relocator) it looks the same as it did the day I bought it - it's made from solid aluminum, not coated metal.
Here's a better picture of the grille slats.

Message: Very nice. The first pic looked like grillcraft the way the bottom is covered with the one piece.
