Subject: Is this a PCM or WHAT ???? IP: Logged
Message: Ok boys here’s a question that might need a little detective work…….
I have a 2000 Dak R/T. When I bought the truck the salesman told me that
he believes that the previous owner had “put a chip or computer in it”. Well
just by looking at it that it does not have a chip (i.e. Jet).
I know what the Mopar PCM does (change shift points, rev limiter, etc..) This is
what happens when I drive the truck :
If I put the truck down in 1 rather than D, the truck will not shift into second until I shift into 2. I can hit between 5500-6000 rpm’s.
If I mash the pedal while in D the truck does not shift into second until it hits 5500, and then from second to third it shifts at about 5200-5250.
Here are the #’ that are printed on the PCM:
Motorolla S/N : 02A479DQVJB2
Daimler Chrysler : TEM1150QVJB2 00000
P/N: 05007
Any help would be appreciated !!!!!! (sorry for the long post !!)

Message: I just looked at the new mopar catalog and the numbers match your numbers. So my guess would be that you have a performance pcm on your truck.
Enjoy!!!

Message: I dont have my catalog with me but when I looked at it the part number starts with 05007 and the has a few more digits but the one in my truck only has 05007 ??? Did you happen to notice any of the other numbers in there ????
- Todd you would think but my brother has a 99 R/T while in 1 the truck will start to "buck" if you hit 5200 rpm. Mine doesn't.

That sounds like either a mis-adjusted shift kit and/or bad overdrive solenoid pack/transducer. Definitely not a Mopar PCM banging the gears at 5500-6000rpm on the 1-2 shift.

Message: Mine doesn't shift if it's in 1 either, 1 is made to start a heavy-load, or go up a big a$$ hill. That's what the Dakota Owner's Manual says.

Message: If you put the transmission in "1" then it is not going to shift out of first. It will just go to the rev limiter. Every automatic I've ever had does this not just Dakota's! Thats what 1st is for, It can also be used for engine braking. If you look at the sticker on the PCM under the P/N I bet there are a few more digits in a different font or size after the 05007 (205 or 206 to be specific). If those are the numbers then it is a Mopar Performance PCM, plus the 5500+ rpm rev limiter and 5200 rpm shift points makes it sound like a MP unit as well. The other thing to try is bury the speedometer, or see if the a/c continues to blow cold under a long WOT blast.
