Subject: 00 dak Clutch Fan, Fixed Thanks IP: Logged
Message: Hey Guy's, I just wanted all of you that helped me last night on the chat site with the Seized Fan Clutch. 2000 4.7L Dak
KC. 52000 miles :(
I picked up a new Fan clutch @ a local auto part's $48.00 out the door,
As advertised buy Fubar in the chat room, A 38 mm Wrench fits the nut on the fan Also . I found it easier to remove the
fan shroud two 10 mm bolts two small hoses, The coolant reservoir, l in and the washer fluid line and the pump motor
power wire.
5 minutes and that was not knowing what had to be done. The hard part If there was one, Was removing the
Fan Clutch. . Standing in front of Cooling Fan Turn the nut to the left to loosen! break the nut lose by placing a bolt in the
pulley that the that the clutch is attached to, As a stop against a casting on the water pump. Yes this sounds risky to the
pump casting . Just do not drive the wrench as if you where swinging a bat for a home run. A sharp wrap on the wrench
and the nut breaks lose.
The whole job was complete in 25 minutes including smashing the empty beer cans!
Thanks Guys! A new problem See Rear Power window inoperative!

Message: Why do you need a rotating mass like a clutch and fan anyway. Took mine off two years ago.
