Subject: TIRES??? PLEASE HELP IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 dakota CC, 4.7. I just installed stock rims off of a 2000 dakota R/T they are 17x9 with 255/55/17 eagle rsa rubber on them. I want to go BIGGER, what is the biggest size tires that I can put on my these rims without problems. I also want to keep the sport look and not go the 4x4 look. Will a 275/60/17 work, it comes on the durango R/T? Also what is the best tire in this size, and/or anything I should watch out for?
thanks

Message: You can go as big as what is on the late model Camero, 40 TZ, you will find out the RSA's are junk.
They are not even a truck tire and they do not last long. Goodyear yeah good for a year (maybe) and they do not stick. I got to do a road test on Dunlop Rover GTX a few years ago and they are fantistic!!! And you can get them the same size as the RSA's, this tire will out perform like you cannot believe. And the letters are differant on each side, pick the one you like. These are made to drive radicaly with one hand, and wet roads ain't squat! I pulled off the RSA & went back to GTX'S.

I don't know much about the Toyo tires, but what I have heard is good.
The size you want is about 1" wider and 2" taller than the tires you have now. They will work on the back with no problems what-so-ever. They should work on the front, but it might be a good idea to crank the front wheels all the way to one side and visually check for clearence problems.
