Message: Yeah John, I got a reply, just wish it had been what I wanted to hear. I will need to change my oil in a couple of weeks, I may just buy the damn thing and put it in and test my luck. We'll see.
Geoff,
No harm in changing that oil every 100 miles!!!!

Message: Anyone try and of the sizes on the 4.7? I saw a post in this thread about the sd-2 fitting a 2001 4.7L which is odd that the sd-1 would fit all the other engines but the sd-2 would fit the 4.7. Anyone know for sure? Also how much are these things?

Message: Yeah, I just can't believe that they make a plug that fits the 2000s but nothing later. The plug has to be the same doesn't it? I wonder if they designed these things back a couple of years ago based on the current engines at the time and haven't bothered looking to see if they work in the newer setups. Wish somebody that had a 01 or 02 had bought one of these already, maybe I'll have to be the guinea pig one of these days!

Message: Yes, the SD-2 does fit and work properly on the 2001 4.7ltr engine. I have it installed in mine and it works just great, especially since I have the Skid plate package on mine. The drain hose allows me to not have to remove the skid plate to drain the oil.

Message: Well, with Fram's slip-shod way of making filters, no way would I trust other items they manufacture. I mean geeeez, they don't even know what fits what, etc. Anyway, I recommend if you want such a device go with the PROVEN over the years Fumoto drain valve!

Message: For those of you with a 2001 Dakota.
SD-1 for the 3.9
SD-2 for the 4.7
These are definate as I have installed the sure-drain on these engines. I believe the 5.9 is the same as the 3.9, but I have no proof. Call the dealer and see if the drain plugs are the same if you are curious.

Message: Mike,
Thanks for the information. I plan on doing an oil change in the next week or two and will probably pick one up. What did you think of the quality of the piece? Thanks.

Message: Product seems to have a good fit and the finish looks durable. We will see after a year or so how well it holds up. For the price though, I see no problems.
