Subject: What happened to Dodge!? IP: Logged
Message: What happened to Dodge? They are going way down hill from what they used to be.
I have a 2001 Motorsports Edition Dakota, just realized there is the foamy oil problem due to moisture, and that they used some compostite material for the oil fill instead of using metal. The foaming is happening because the oil fill, not being metal, isnt heating up, thus, water does not burn off, just mixes with the oil and becomes an emulsion.
Another prob. I am having is that my transmission laggs going into 2nd gear, which doesnt happen all the time, but often enough.
Along with the fact that when changing gears, it sounds like the transmission is grinding. Going to have the belts looked at. May need tightening. But the thing that bites my ass, was when I brought it to the dealer to have them change the oil, I told them about it, and the mechanic said "it sounds normal". But it really doesnt. Dodge is going way down hill! and its unfortunit!

Message: The foaming is nothing to worry about EVEN the GENERAL cars do it and so do the PHORDS so dont sweat it. Actually if thats all ya got to Biatch about be happy it could be much worse.

Message: I think that something like that they would have to paint for ya. Obviously if it was never painted in the first place, you know. Give the dealer a call and see what they say. If they say its not, call another dealer and see what they say.

Message: While I have noticed that when I am driveing my Dodge I do not get the foam but when my wife has it for months at a time the foam comes back. I drive 60-72 miles per day going to and from work at highway speeds. My wife drives 20 miles a month and it is stop and go driveing around town. I have never had any foam show up in my oil or oil filter when I am draining it! I am thinking that driveing style might have something to do with this as well as the design.

Message: The more you drive, and the hotter it gets, it will burn off some of the condensation. But driving short trips, it doesnt get hot enough to burn the water off. There is a fix for it, call your dealer, they replace the baffle and the cap. I have to get mine done shortly. Waiting for the parts to come in. But i've heart that it just covers the problem up. I dont see how having water in the engine could be good for it, you know. But, whatever, its under warenty. They wanna screw themselves over, let em.
