Read the article and see if you start thinking the same thing that I am.

Message: I want them in my tailights. Just curious about the power going to them, is is enough or too great? How would we mount a heatsink in the tailight housing?

Message: I'm sure that getting the correct voltage to them would be the easy part. But, as you said, the heatsink would be a huge problem and would take a lot of custom work.
The blue ones are pretty neat too. He says they are not as bright but it would be sooo easy to rig those into a small housing to use as driving lights.
Imagine mounting the red ones on the front of a truck in a strobe setup. (!)

Message: To get the right voltage and current all you need is the proper current limiting resistor (that can be calculated). As far as a heatsink goes, there's various commercial ones available, and if it is close enough to your car's body you can use that (it's only about 1W of power)
For a current liming resistor you'd need a 30Ohm, 3W resistor to take it down from 12-15V and have the 300mA required.

Message: I believe some of the Infinities use an LED system for driving lights. There are 7 LEDs (1 inthe center and 6 around it) all the size of a quarter. I can imagine how bright that would be in the rearview.

Message: I doubt the driving lights are LEDs. Tail lights I can see (and have seen), but not headlights.

Message: Digikey has the resistors for $0.41
P/N:33W-5-ND 33Ohm 5W wirewound.
The LEDs themselves look like they run about $15
