Message: Can anyone recommend a topper for my new Dakota? I'm looking for a cab-high fiberglass topper for my 2002 Club Cab 4x4. I had a Raven on my '95 Dakota, but prices have gone up a LOT (like 50%) since '95 and I'm willing to consider other brands.
I can also get Jason, Glasstite and ARE locally. The Glasstite is really nice, but for $2K it should be. The Jason has some features I like, I'm especially attracted by the fold down sliding front window, but I don't know anything about this brand. Does anyone know about the Jason toppers?
TIA
Scott

Message: Scott,
Like a few others on this forum, I would HIGHLY recommend ARE. They are top quality and offer a life-time warranty. I have the "Z" model which makes my QC look more like a "stretched" Durango. That topper cost me about $1,600 - tax and installation included. I also got a few options, the full headliner, the sliding front window and a rear 12V interior light. The company also offered an instant $100 rebate over the internet.
- just my 2 cents worth!

Message: I would recommend the Glasstite. You may pay more but it is a GREAT topper. I had one on my uhum.. Ranger (Before I bought my Dak, of course) It was a great topper. The thing you have to look at is to make sure the topper keeps the same spacing as the bed/cab spacing... I've seen some that look like crap because there is a bigger gap between the topper and the cab than the bed and the cab. The model I had was the "Targa" It is the only topper I know of with a peice of actual fiberglass seperating the 2 side windows unlike Lear that uses a peice of cheap rubber. Also, the locking mech. is superior to others because there is no handle that can be forced to turn, it is a pushbutton. If it is locked, the button pushes in and does nothing... Not too much for a thief to play with. Oh yea, the brake light is molded into the topper too. (looks great)
Sorry for the long post but look carefully at your different options, If I had the $$ for a topper I would definately get the Glasstite.

Message: I have an ARE Z series. Really nice top. It has frameless windows which make it look more like an SUV than an afterthought topper. The rear hatch is also the nicest, it has one handle operation and a frameless window. COlor match is excellent.
Lifetime warranty.

Message: I bought a LEER about 7 months ago for my QC, no slider or side windows, but greybeard is right, it looks like a stretched Durango. Paid $1000 for it. Its for sale if anyone in the Ohio area is interested. I have no idea what the color is called, but I think its Patroit Blue. Soon as it sells, I'll be able to pay for a membership.....that would be nice. Email at: Daktout@ aol, Yahoo, Or Hotmail.
thanks

Message: First, thanks for the information, everyone.
After some consideration, I decided to go with the ARE Z Series for my truck. I think if Raven would have offered the fold-down front sliding window, I would have bought another Raven, but they didn't so I went with ARE. The ARE was a bit more than I'd originally planned to spend, but it looks like a very nice topper.

Message: I will actually give you an answer to your question about Jason. I had a Jason hard tonno and it was awesome. About as sturdy as any two other brands stacked on top off each other but very light, thin, and they use the same dupint paint as on your truck so it is an exact.
