Subject: I got it! IP: Logged
Message: I picked up my Black 2002 QC 4.7L 5-spd friday afternoon! It had 1 mile on it (when I picked it up that is ;-) I really put some miles on it this weekend - even just sat in it and listened to some tunes while it was parked in my garage Saturday night. So far the only things I've noticed out of the ordinary is that the front passenger bucket seat has one bolt half-way screwed in; one of the four-inch plastic plugs in the wall of the bedliner popped off twice; and the mileage indicator dims when I put the lights on (is this normal behavior?). Other than that, I'm just sooo psyched!

Message: Congratulations!! :)
On the mileage indicator, did you try to brighten up the lights in the dash by turning the headlight knob?
Hope you didn't sleep in the truck ont he first night it came home....uhhhh...ok, I almost did. ;)

Message: LOL, no I haven't sleep in it - YET! Thanks, bernd. I'll fiddle with the headlight knob on the way home tonight and see what happens. I just thought it curious that the mileage indicator would dim when I put the lights on. That doesn't seem right to me.

Message: Yeah, the milage indicator dims so that it's not so bright as to ruin your night vision :0)

Message: Notice that it also dims the radio's display. What I've found that this does is reduce the amount of light entering in your peripheral vision, making it easier to focus on the road.

Message: I'm kind of like in Canada, I drive with my headlights on all the time. You get used to it being a little bit dimmer, but I like it that way anyways. Darker in your truck.

Mine is a 4x2, 3.55 gears, Sports Plus Package which includes Tire and Handling, Deluxe, Speed control, etc. Just about everything. The only packages I don't have are tow package and heavy duty and security.

Message: It dims because you don't need it to be so bright to see at night, it would be a distraction. Day time headlights were originally a safety feature for motorcycles to reduce people from pulling out in front of them claiming they didn't see them. I guess you have to do what government makes you do, just glad my truck doesn't have daytime running lights !
