Subject: Stupid cup holder!!
IP: Logged

Message:
Anyone with a genll ever had this problem? My cup holder keeps popping open when driving around, it's annoying as hell, plus when a passenger gets in the front they all rack their knee off it. I'm not so much worried about my buddies Knees as I am worried of one of them ripping it right out of the dash. My question is, can it be tightened or any thing so it won't pop out so easy, or am I beat?
Thanks for your reponse.

Steph.

Yah it happens when accelerating. Its gotten to the point that I actually EXPECT the little click noise (from it popping out) to happen when I step on the gas.

I've never had the "cup holder" pop out on me, but I have the problem with the passenger wrecking there knees on it! I've had them hit it hard enough to pull it from the dash... but I think you'd have to use pretty good force to rip it off!!
My plan is to put bucket seats in, and put a new cup holder between them. Then stop using the factory cup holder... No ideas for tighting it up, sorry. If mine gets to the point where it slides out it self, I'll just apoxy it shut?! Sorry I couldn't be more help

At least you have a cupholder! My friends drive a '88 and a '90 Ford F150 XLT Lariat's (one is an extended cab and one is a regular cab) neither one of them have a cup holder or even a place to safely put your cup.

Hey Steph, put silicone gasket maker on track of cup holder, close this. When silicone is hard, pull with force to openning cup holder. The silicone will break and now, slide will "grip"in rubber.Your cup holder doesn't openning itself

Geez, I thought I was the only one with the problem. My daughter thinks it's very funny when it pops out for no apparent reason.

My girlfriend is annoyed that not only does it snag on her or her purse, but it's too darned small for a bottle of soda (or pop, depending where you live) !
