Message: Well to give out some advice. Since you have a MPFI system like most of us have. Do a dynostic check on the ECM (Engine Control Module). After all if its not working at task then your new sensors will do you know good.
Mine might need to checked also.

Message: I have had this problem on my 1992 for about a year and get it restarted by jiggling the wire bundle that goes to the ECU/ECM. The truck can stall at any time (first startup, low/high speed/RPM, hot or cold). I feel that it is one of the wires in this bundle. Any more ideas?

Message: Sounds to me like the dreaded Connection about 6-8 inches from the computer, you need to remove the tape/protective coating and there are 3-4 wires that come together and if it gets corroded it can cause the problems you guys are desrcibing.
For a while it was a biggie to check.
Good Luck

My 1999 Dakota is having the same problem, where is the conrol module located so I can check the wries. It seems to spudder and will stall at times, I put HEAT in the fuel, that did not work. I was going to change the fuel pump to get a new filter in it. FWD extended cab only has 38K miles on it. Any help?

Message: First thing to do is check for codes. On the '01 that's easy. Turn the key on/off/on/off/on and the codes will display in the odometer as PXXXX and when it's done or there are no codes it will display Pdone.
Unfortunately, for some unknown reason that trick doesn't work on the '99's but you could bring it to a local A/Z or somewhere like that and get someone to read them for you. Then post back what you find.

Message: genmann1956
If the key on key off doesn't work. Try holding the odometer trip meter button in while turning key forward just shy of turning the motor over then let it go.
Make note when trying the key on/ key off 3 times it all the way forward also just shy of cranking the engine.
the method is key on - key off - key on - key off - then key on again, Leave it on.

Message: I have a code reader that is not the problem. Most times when this happens it does not trigger the check engine light. I have made it backfire a bit using the gas and clutch while it is rolling, that was only once and the light came on , I recall it was engine misfire the code was P1391.
Now where is the control module and some harness may be corroded? When it quits it starts back up, this has now happened about three times over the last few days. Sometimes it does not happen. I thought it may be water in the fuel so I put a bottle of HEAT in, that did not cure it. This 1999 Dakota only has 30K+ miles on it, perhaps sitting is the problem, the gas is new. I am afraid to drive it anywhere as I may get stuck.
I have not had to do any work on this truck yet.
Need help here in WI before the snow starts.
Thanks, Genmann1956
