Message: In an effort to fight mileage a "friend" of mine
managed to disable the odometer on his
2001 neon and dakota by simply pulling the
"cluster fuse". (#14 for dakotas). Mileage is
not clocked, however temperature, oil
pressure, tachometer and speedometer as
well as all warning lights are disabled too. It is
a leased vehicle however he plans to keep it
after the lease. My question is, will a computer
scan by the dealer show true mileage? or is
the scan just for other trouble codes (broken
circuits, inoperable o2 sensors and the like
etc.) Are we getting away with anything or just
f'k'n' ourselves??????

Message: Yes the computer scan will show the true mileage.
My brother in law is a Dodge mechanic and he scanned a Dodge used car I was looking at for my son, he scanned it to check to see if the speedo mileage matched the computer mileage, this will tell if the speedo has been tampered with.
